University Place Announces 2024 Summer Events Schedule
OREM, Utah (April 30, 2024) – University Place today announced the 2024 line-up of free summer events and activities held at The Orchard, University Place’s outdoor gathering space.
All events are family-centered, and at many you are encouraged to bring a blanket or chair to sit on. This summer’s schedule includes:
• May the 4th Star Wars Celebration
May 4
7:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Come and meet characters from the galaxy far, far away! Kids will get to make their own (foam) lightsaber, attend Jedi training, and attack a Death Star target.
Blue milk will be for sale by University Place’s Chat Chat Boba.
• Chubby’s Cajun Fest – NEW EVENT
May 18
12:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Chubby’s at University Place is the location of this year’s Chubby’s Cajun Festival! Fresh crawfish is flown in for a delicious crawfish boil, there will also be live bands playing and live alligators! The event is free, but tickets are required. • Orem Chorale Spring Concert

7:00 p.m.
Come enjoy a night of music from Orem’s adult choral group. Created in 2010, the choir has 60 members and will perform several patriotic and other fun songs to please the crowd.
• Park Yoga: YogaSix
May 28 – August 27
7:00 – 8:00 p.m.
On Tuesday nights, YogaSix instructors will lead free classes all summer long. Bring a mat and enjoy free yoga flow and sculpting classes in The Orchard.
• Utah County STEM Festival – NEW EVENT
May 30
5:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Bring the family to learn about science, technology, engineering and math. Courtesy of UVU Aviation Sciences School, a decommissioned Diamond DA20 C-1 plane will be there for guests to climb into! The Chick-Fil-A hot air balloon will also be there for photo opps! There will be hands-on activities and experiments for everyone. Participants include UVU College of Engineering & Technology, MTECH, Craft Lake City STEM Labs, Utah County 4-H, Utah County Academy of Sciences, Jr. Achievement of Utah, and many more.
• African Heritage Festival
June 1
2:00 – 8:00 p.m.
A yearly tradition at University Place, the African Festival kicks off with a parade around The Orchard, followed by live performances, food and vendors. This event is hosted by the Ngoma Y’ Africa Cultural Center of Provo.
• Oremfest: The Orchard Jam
June 5
5:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Oremfest is introducing a new event this year, a Children’s Entrepreneur Market. The market opens at 5:00 p.m., featuring crafts, treats and other home-made goods made by kids! The kids even run the booth (with a little help from their parents!).
Then starting at 7:00 p.m., Jersey Street will take the stage. This Utah based band will play classic rock, country, and pop hits from today.
• Freedom’s Melody: A Celebration of American Composers – NEW EVENT
June 10
7:00 PM
Freedom’s Melody is new to this year’s America’s Freedom Festival. At this free outdoor concert, the American Fork Symphony will celebrate America’s rich musical heritage by playing songs by composers such as John Williams, George Gershwin, Elmer Bernstein and more. Bring a blanket and/or chairs and join us in The Orchard for a celebration of American composers.
• Outdoor Movie Nights
June 14 & 28, July 12 & 26, August 9
8:30 p.m.
Every other Friday starting June 14, bring a blanket and/or chair to get your spot- for the night’s outdoor movie. This summer’s movies include “Sonic the Hedgehog”, “Trolls Band Together”, “Footloose”, “Guardian of the Galaxy”, and “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace”.
The Orchard will open at 8:30 p.m., with the movie beginning at around 9:00 p.m. Free popcorn while supplies last.
• Outdoor Concerts
June 21, July 5 & 19, August 2 & 16
6:00 – 8:00 pm
Every other Friday starting on June 21, come and hear your favorite local bands sing popular songs we all know and love, and perform original music. Bands include Flashback Brothers, B.D. Howes Band, Sonic Duke, Mikayla Paige, Daniel Beddoes, Tri-Chevy’s, Columbia Jones, Heber Matute and more. Check back closer to the date for the full line up of bands. There will also be prize drawings and food available for purchase.
• American Folk Ensemble & Market
June 22
5:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Starting at 5:00 p.m. the Sunset Farmers Market will open with over 50 local vendors and activities like mini-golf, face painting and yard games.
At 7:00 p.m. the dancing will begin! Back and bigger for the second year, as part of the Freedom Festival, the American Folk Ensemble (formerly Clog America) will perform American folk style music and dancing – including clogging and bluegrass music.
Members of this prestigious group have represented the United States in over 70 major folklore festivals throughout Europe, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Korea, and China since 1991.
• European Cultural Festival – Formerly Renaissance Day
July 13
6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Going strong for 6 years, this summer’s European Cultural Festival will celebrate the food and culture from various regions of Europe. Do not miss the knights in full armor fighting with their swords! There will also be a pirate ship for the kids, and ethnic food and entertainment for the whole family.
• Pioneer Day Celebration, Fireworks & Market
July 24
5:00 – 9:45 p.m.
Our biggest event of the year keeps getting bigger! Come and celebrate Utah’s heritage during Pioneer Day at University Place. There will be live music all evening from the band Made for Midnight, vendors, giveaways and some friendly competition during a pie eating contest and stick-pull up contest.
New this year will be a market by Sunset Farmers Market with local products for sale, and comedian Tanner Gillman from Studio C will get the crowd roaring with laughter. The evening will end with the grand finale: a choreographed firework show with music!

• World Folkfest Community Dance
July 30
6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
The World Folkfest Community Dance was so popular last year, that this year it’s even bigger! An extension of the World Folkfest hosted in neighboring Springville, come and enjoy dance groups from around the world as they perform traditional dances from their respective countries. The performers will also parade through the shopping center entertaining shoppers. Bring your dancing shoes – everyone is invited to join in the dancing fun!
• Back to School Luau
August 5
7:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Experience Pacific Island traditions and culture with food from the Hungary Hawaiian, games and live performances. The highlight of the evening – fire dancers! Bring a chair and or blanket and enjoy a taste of island life.
• Bolivian Festival
August 24
3:00 – 9:00 p.m.
The Bolivian Festival has become an end of summer staple at University Place. Come and enjoy a parade celebrating Central and South American culture, along with other live performances, vendors and food.
