Woodbury Corporation Brings New Hotel, Jobs to Idaho Falls

  • Revitalization Project Along Snake River Includes Building a SpringHill Suites by Marriott, a new Road through Taylor Crossing on the River, and Improvements to the River Walk Trail System
  • Hotel Will Bring Approximately 40 Full-time Jobs to the Area

SALT LAKE CITY (June 7, 2016) – Woodbury Corporation, a full-service real estate development and management company, announced today that it has broken ground on a revitalization project in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The project is designed to infuse the community with new jobs, increased tourism, and improved outdoor recreation opportunities.

The cornerstone of this project is a 124-room SpringHill Suites by Marriott, the largest all suites style brand. It will be built along the Snake River, at 660 Riverwalk Drive, which is immediately south of the current Diamond Award-winning Residence Inn by Marriott, which Woodbury Corporation also manages. The hotel will incorporate a stylish modern design, and will include 1,300 square feet of meeting space, an indoor pool and hot tub, and a fitness center.

“We love being part of the community here and are looking forward to strengthening our roots in Idaho Falls,” said Guy Woodbury, vice president of hospitality for Woodbury Corporation. “We’ve also found a phenomenal partner in the Walker family, who owned the property for both of these hotels and have been great champions of the revitalization of this area.”

In addition to the hotel, Woodbury Corporation’s revitalization plans include the installation of a new quarter-mile road along the Snake River through Taylor Crossing on the River, which will increase accessibility to the city and enable further development in the area. Woodbury Corporation will also be improving the adjacent sections of the River Walk trail system, providing both hotel guests and members of the community more opportunities to take advantage of the beautiful outdoor recreation Idaho Falls has to offer.

“This groundbreaking represents more than the building of another high-quality hotel – it represents our city’s continued commitment to revitalizing the downtown. We also celebrate the addition of another access point to the river, much-needed rooms for guests, and the enhancement of the city’s award- winning River Walk and green spaces. Once again, we thank the Woodbury Corporation and McNeil Development for their continued efforts to make our city more attractive to guests and more livable for citizens,” states Idaho Falls Mayor Rebecca Casper.

Construction on the new SpringHill Suites by Marriott is projected to be finished in late spring 2017. It is estimated that once it is completed, the hotel will bring an additional 40 full-time jobs to Idaho Falls. Additionally, there is the potential for even greater economic impact as the hotel and other community amenities will bring increased tourism to the city.
